Aoressra's Awakening

Some say it's about time.
Military pikachu gijinka :D

There’s still something Really Not Right with this, but tbh I’ve been staring at it for so long I can’t tell anymore. I’m really terrible at finishing things though, so I’m just going to post it and figure it out later. Trying out a new painting style -I think I like it, but I need to practice to get my speed up. This took faaaar too long :S

p.s I don’t know how to draw guns. This was just a spontaneous design that makes no sense xD

I’ve been extremely displeased with pretty much anything I’ve been attempting to draw for the past couple of weeks now, so today I thought I’d let go of being a perfectionist and aim to just do something. Well, at least that was a success :P

An noisy miner bird landed on our windowsill, seeking shelter from the rain. It sure knows how to tuck itself up nice and cosily :)

It’s been aaagges since I’ve sat down to do some concept sketches for a character. Feels nice to be getting back into it! This is pretty much how I picture the character in my head, so I’m really pleased because that usually never happens!
So this is Florentyne, an immunologist who becomes a reluctant recruit in the fight against a psychotic feminist and her personal mission to wipe out the entire male  gender with a specially engineered virus. Funtimes.

I re-did the picture of Alezra from my drawing challenge -I really hated the version I posted, but because of my challenge I felt as if I couldn’t afford the time to fix it up. It feels much better now :)

HUZAAH! FINISHED WITH 5 MINS TO SPARE!!
Dr. Branchburg was an ambitous and slightly eccentric engineer who dreamed of creating the ultimate military robot. One day he was haunted by a nightmare; a thousand naked eyeballs staring at him through the darkness, waking up to find himself deeply disturbed. He realised that all along, that level of fear and discomfort was what he wanted to recreate in the heart of the enemy. He thus got started on a new line of robots that were inspired by eyeballs.
Although the eye-bot line was largely unsuccessful (probably due to most military leaders thinking of it as a gimmick), it did lead to the development of his most famous invention ever: a spherical human cargo transporter that had the advantage of being impossible to tip over. But that’s another story.
Also, I might have started off drawing a giant golem and watched curiously as my sketch sort of turned itself into a spherical robot instead.
(Again, the humans are there for scale :P)
p.s The big thing on the right’s meant to be a canon btw. The more I look at it, the more it looks like a set of heat lamps :/

This is a Hookrat. In true tradition, the breed originated from a scientific experiment gone wrong. These rats grew to gargantuan sizes (see humans, drawn to scale) and took over the island with their voracious appetite. Due to their intimidating size and formidable aggression, humans have been reluctant to approach the island for thousands of years. It is unclear whether or not its mutations, such as its hooked claws, are the result of natural selection or the long-term effects of the radiation fallout following the science facility’s destruction.

Another catch up entry. This was done on 4/2/11. Sketched some dragons to get some ideas for the potential remake of our dragon/snake Game Jam game. Tried all sorts of head shapes, still not entirely sure I like any of them. I’m thinking of giving the dragon a very narrow sort of head, somewhat reminiscent of an ichthyosaurus, and making one of the “upgrade” components the type of mask-armour it wears.

I also started a spontaneous portrait of my friend Nick, but then I stopped because it sucked :P

TWO PICTURES, 7 HRS AND 10 MINS TO GO!

EPIC CATCH UP TIME.

I can’t remember which day this was from (possibly the 23rd of Jan). This is me practicing my “still life” by drawing Kii’s soup bowl thing while at City Extra. Yeah, I need practice. I also tried drawing one of the waiters, the guy who was trying to fix the aircon (he looks so dispropritoned because I could only see his legs in the mirror. I added the top half on later when he came down the ladder), the city extra logo, and… um, a lump of coal. Yep.
